Of note, the Silver Kings played Les Canadiens in the first game ever played by the Canadiens franchise. The game was played in the 1910 season of the NHA. The 1910 team was owned by Renfrew, Ontario mine operator Ambrose O'Brien. The team originated in the Timiskaming Professional Hockey League and returned to the TPHL. The Cobalt NHA franchise was transferred to the Quebec Bulldogs for the 2nd season of the NHA.
In 1999, the team was resurrected by Randy and Wade Morin and the team currently plays in the True North Hockey League.
